WHAT IS THERMOWOOD?

Home / Interesting

Thermowood or thermal wood is a natural, environmentally friendly material modified by heat treatment and has higher quality and technical characteristics than ordinary wood.

As a result of the thermal modification, almost all the parameters are improved. Firstly, the tree stops absorbing moisture, this quality makes it resistant to the external environment. Not only vapour no longer acts on it, but even direct contact with water does not affect the material in any way, and when completely immersed in an aqueous medium, no more than 8% of the total mass will accumulate moisture for a long time.

Thermal wood, unlike ordinary wood, can easily endure rain, snow, fog and other whims of nature. Thermal board, as a building material, has practically no drawbacks, except for the cost. Although the high price is quite consistent with the quality. Full wall and floor sheathing with a heat-treated board will cost a pretty penny, but you will not have to change the finish for the next 10 years at least.

You can be confused by such a nuance as the need for additional care for the coating. However, this is necessary for any wood: not a single material can last long if it is not treated with antiseptics and moisture protection agents. And with a thermal board, the maintenance costs are not so high, because it is initially more practical.
